I'm currently working with a leading UK university on the search for a Financial Analyst on a 12-month fixed term contract. This senior role is based in the south west of London with hybrid working available.
The Finance Analyst will play a key role in supporting the University's strategic and operational decision-making through high-quality financial analysis, modelling and insight. Working closely with senior stakeholders, including SLT and Finance Committee, the postholder will translate complex financial and non-financial data into clear, actionable intelligence.
The role supports budgeting, forecasting, month-end and year-end processes, contributes to the University's medium- and long-term financial planning, and provides leadership and development for trainee finance staff. This is a highly visible role requiring strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement and a collaborative approach within a higher education environment.
Experience Required:
Experience working within a Higher Education setting
Part-qualified or actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)
Proven experience in financial analysis, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting within a complex organisation
Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables and financial modelling
Experience analysing large, complex data sets and producing clear, insightful commentary for senior stakeholders
Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance colleagues
Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
Demonstrable ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and deliver to high standards
Previous experience within the Higher Education sector (or similar public sector environment) highly desirable
Line management or mentoring experience desirable
