Kitchen / Catering Assistant – Elderly Care Home – Part-time (29 hours a week) £16,360 + paid O/T + Benefits

This is an opportunity to join an independent Care home/village located in the city of London, which has listed buildings and beautiful grounds and facilities for its residents. They are looking for a Kitchen/Catering Assistant, who encompasses two areas of responsibility. The position fulfils the customer facing responsibilities that involve front of house service, from serving, clearing tables and ensuring residents and guests receive the highest standards of care and attention. In addition the general assistant will also be required to undertake some basic food preparation duties and washing up.


* Permanent, Part-time

* 29-hours a week, working 2-days per week (12 hours) and 2 weekends out of 5 – plus overtime if wanted (not compulsory)

* £10.85ph, which equates to £16,360 for 29-hours + paid overtime if wanted + excellent benefits

* Location: City of London

* Start: ASAP (please note this will be subject to references and DBS check)


* Attentive customer service

* Setting up dining room for each service

* Serving customers with required food and drinks as required, ensuring that all who eat receive the correct food

* Clearing away and cleaning dining room after service, ensuring that the tables, hot and cold counters are clean and tidy

* Ensuring the tables are cleaned and the Hall is set appropriately for the next meal service, checking and wiping down chairs as necessary and clearing up spillages

* Washing up dishes in the absence (or in assistance with) the kitchen porter

* Basic food preparation such as cooking breakfast items, preparing vegetables, salad or sandwiches as required

* Taking meals and drinks to other areas of the care home as required

* Having a good understanding of food and health and safety practices and ensuring these practices are adhered to at all times


* You will have had experience in a similar role

* You will either have worked, or be aware of the needs of vulnerable customers / residents, such as a care home

* Team player with a caring and friendly nature, able to empathise

* Good understanding of COSHH and Food Hygiene / HACCP guidelines

* Have a flexible approach, be smart in appearance and have a bubbly nature
