The Bromley based school is a residential and day school for pupils aged 14-19 years with moderate to severe learning difficulties and other complex needs including autism and language difficulties. Their aim is to provide an outstanding and supportive learning environment which challenges students to achieve success.
The school is looking for a strong 1:1 teaching assistant to work with Key Stage 5 pupils with a range of needs including SLD, ASC and PMLD.
The successful candidate will join a supportive school where we invest in our staff and create skilled class teams. This role could lead to the opportunity of further professional development to train as a Senior TA or HLTA. Key tasks are to support and develop the educational environment for the students, to include extending their curriculum skills, social skills, and personal development. To also provide a safe environment, emotionally and physically, for the students within the guidelines and procedures of the school. Experience in working with children, and Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in English and Mathematics are essential.
Your role as a Support worker
Provide day to day support, delivering 1:1, paired and small group teaching, and learner sessions
Supervise and support community-based learning and educational visits
Help to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources
Working with key pupils to help develop their personal plans and aspirations
Supporting pupils to develop crucial life skills to help them thrive.
You will be well organised, have good planning skills, have experience of working with children and young people with complex Needs, a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Above all, you will also need the physical and emotional resilience to work with young people who often present behaviours that challenge.
